Work With Us

At Emotionally Healthy Minds, we are always interested in hearing from people who share our heart for supporting children and young people in Essex.

We work with children who may be experiencing anxiety, low confidence, emotionally based school avoidance, SEND, trauma, emotional overwhelm or other barriers that make learning and school feel difficult. Our work brings together emotional wellbeing and education, offering tutoring, coaching and counselling that is relational, child-centred and emotionally informed.

The right people matter deeply to us. We are looking for practitioners who are warm, reliable, reflective and committed to helping children feel safe, understood and able to make progress at their own pace.

Who We Are Looking For

We operate a rolling application and registration process and welcome enquiries from experienced and appropriately qualified tutors, emotion coaches and counsellors who are passionate about supporting children and young people.

Our team works with children who may not have found education easy. Some may be anxious, overwhelmed, guarded, neurodivergent, out of school or struggling to believe they can learn. Because of this, we are looking for people who understand that progress often starts with safety, trust and relationship.

At EHM, we believe the adults around a child matter. We are looking for people who can model good emotional health through warmth, honesty, reflection, appropriate boundaries and the way they respond when things feel difficult.

Please note: Tutors, Emotion Coaches and Counsellors are self-employed, independent contractors who enter into a contract for services with Emotionally Healthy Minds (an employment business).

Tutors

Our Tutors provide personalised, emotionally informed academic support for children and young people.

We are looking for highly experienced, specialist teachers with QTS who can deliver fun, creative and engaging 1:1 and group sessions. This is not just about subject knowledge. EHM tutors understand that many children need to feel safe before they can learn.

Tutors support children who may have gaps in learning, low confidence, anxiety, SEND, EBSA or difficulties accessing school.

Tutoring may take place at an EHM centre, in school, online or in another agreed setting. Sessions may be 1:1 or in small groups, depending on the needs of the child.

Tutors must have Qualified Teacher Status, professional indemnity and public liability insurance and an enhanced DBS on the update service.

Emotion Coaches

Our Emotion Coaches support children and young people to develop confidence, emotional awareness, resilience, self-esteem, motivation and emotional regulation.

Coaching at EHM is practical, relational and emotionally informed. It helps children better understand themselves, recognise emotions, develop coping strategies and feel more able to manage challenges in everyday life and education.

This is not a counselling role. Emotion Coaches do not provide therapy or process trauma in a therapeutic way. Instead, they offer structured emotional development support using age-appropriate tools, conversations and activities.

Coaching may take place at an EHM centre, in school, online or in another agreed setting.

Emotion Coaches must have relevant experience, professional indemnity and public liability insurance and an enhanced DBS on the update service.

Counsellors

Our counsellors provide safe, professional and child-centred counselling support for children and young people experiencing emotional, social or psychological difficulties.

Counsellors at EHM work as part of a wider emotionally informed team, supporting children who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, family difficulties, school-related distress, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, SEND-related challenges or barriers to education.

Counselling may take place at an EHM centre, in school, online or in another agreed setting.

Counsellors must hold appropriate counselling qualifications, professional membership, regular external supervision, professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and an enhanced DBS on the update service.
