Connecting with Nature
Discover the Healing Power of Nature at Emotionally Healthy Minds
The transformative power of the great outdoors
At Emotionally Healthy Minds, we believe in the transformative power of the great outdoors. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer access to a stunning farm and woodland space as part of our tutoring and coaching sessions. This fantastic environment allows our students to experience the benefits of outdoor learning, animal care and nature-based activities.

“E now spends her Monday mornings with Lauren and Tracey on the farm. I cannot put into words how much E loves these sessions. Educational, confidence building and therapeutic. A lovely group of families led by the loveliest of ladies in the most beautiful setting.”

- Pond Dipping: Explore aquatic ecosystems and discover the fascinating world of pond life.
- Animal Interaction: Stroke and feed the gentle animals, fostering a sense of calm and connection.
- Woodland Adventures: Take part in outdoor games, storytelling, mindfulness and calming walks in the peaceful woods.
The Science Behind Nature’s Benefits
Spending time outdoors and engaging with nature has proven scientific benefits for emotional and physical well-being:
- Reduces Stress: Nature exposure lowers cortisol hormone levels, reducing feelings of anxiety and stress.
- Boosts Mood: Interacting with animals releases oxytocin, the “feel-good” hormone, enhancing happiness and emotional resilience.
- Improves Focus: Outdoor activities have been shown to increase concentration.
- Supports Physical Health: Activities like walking, exploring and animal care encourage physical movement and improve overall fitness.
- Enhances Learning: Nature-based experiences stimulate curiosity and creativity, helping children develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
These sessions are ideal for:
- School Attendees: Children who attend school but would benefit from outdoor, nature-based experiences to support their emotional and personal development in school holidays.
- Home-Educated Students: Young people who are home-educated and wish to enhance their learning with outdoor, hands-on activities.
- Children Unable to Access School: For children who are unable to attend school due to a variety of reasons.
Being outside in nature helps children feel calmer, happier and less anxious, making it easier for them to manage their emotions.
